具jù

具 (jù, "tool, implement; to provide") remains identical in simplified and traditional forms. In oracle bone script, it depicted a container held by hands—a vivid image of someone presenting or furnishing implements. This visual of hands offering a box evolved to mean "to provide" and "to possess," while the original sense of "tool" survives in compounds like 工具 (gōngjù, "tool") and 家具 (jiājù, "furniture").
