Modern simplified form (簡體). 吧 (bā) remains unchanged from its traditional counterpart, though its role transformed entirely — originally the character 罷 meant "to stop" or "cease," but phonetically borrowed, it became a conversational particle suggesting suggestion or uncertainty. The mouth radical (口) on the left anchors its function as a spoken expression, while the 巴 component provides the sound, making it indispensable in casual Mandarin dialogue from "let's go" (走吧) to "maybe" (好吧).
