用yòng

Modern simplified form (簡體). 用 (yòng, "to use") retains its ancient shape, a pictograph of a wooden tool or yoke that originally represented a device for harnessing power. Its simplicity has allowed it to become a functional component in many characters, including 佣 (to hire), 勇 (brave), and 甩 (to throw), where it contributes its meaning of "use" or "application".
