秋qiū

Modern simplified form (簡體). 秋 (qiū, “autumn”) is identical in simplified and traditional — the left side is the grain radical 禾 (hé), and the right side is the component 火 (huǒ, “fire”), originally depicting the season when farmers burn stubble after harvest. It serves as the radical in 愁 (worry), 楸 (a type of tree), and 龟 (turtle), and its shape has remained largely unchanged since the Warring States period.
